For many, Jesus is familiar. His name appears in politics, prayers, pop songs, and arguments. But familiarity can be misleading — and often what we think we know about Jesus comes from assumption, not exploration.
At the heart of Christianity isn’t a set of beliefs or rules, but a person. A first-century Jew who taught in parables, challenged power, embraced the excluded, and was ultimately executed by an empire. A man whom his followers came to believe was not only sent by God — but somehow God with us.
But who is Jesus, really?
In our Exploring Faith course, we don’t offer one-size-fits-all answers. Instead, we ask real questions:
- Was Jesus a revolutionary? A mystic? A healer? A prophet?
- What do the Gospels actually say — and why do they sometimes say it differently?
- Why has Jesus been portrayed so differently across cultures and centuries?
- And why do people today — 2,000 years later — still claim to follow him?
For some, Jesus is a comforting presence. For others, a confusing figure. For many, he’s both.
And that’s okay.
What matters is not having the “right” answers, but being willing to take a fresh look — to see Jesus not just through the lens of tradition or childhood memory, but with open eyes, open minds, and open hearts.
Because if Jesus is who the Gospels suggest — someone who breaks bread with doubters, welcomes outsiders, and flips the tables on exclusion — then maybe encountering him again could change how we see everything.
We invite you to come and explore the person of Jesus — not just as an idea, but as a presence who might still speak, challenge, and invite us today.
